Last November, in one of the sessions "My Experience Managing People" of the Master's Degree of Personnel Management Service in Organizations, the students received the human resources professional, Manuel Echanove. During his professional degree program he has worked for different companies, among them "France Telecom España", as part of the management committee and he was also the youngest member of the management committee of Telefónica.

During lecture he mentioned the crucial family and professional moments that have made him the professional he is today. He began by talking about the paradigm of technologies that makes the world, and specifically the professional world, advance at an exponential rate. He insists that companies and individuals must have the ability to adapt to change, especially in terms of business culture. The latter without losing sight of the importance of development and the creation of talent, like "a father who does not neglect his family, with the demands that this requires".

He speaks avidly about the steps to change the world. The first and most important is to start with oneself and, "although sometimes we feel that what we do is just a drop in the ocean, the ocean would be less if that drop were missing". To change oneself it is core topic, according to the manager, to learn from mistakes and surround oneself with good people.

The next step is to find who to trade with. You have to choose who is going to be around. Think about who is going to be the subject raw material that will be part of the team, and take care of it when it is decided. The technique to maintain and take care of that team is to get to know the people who make it up, and in this way generate trusting relationships. Echanove states that you must be an expert in knowing the people and the ideal leadership tools you have. Another technique is to never avoid uncomfortable conversations; on the contrary, you have to face them even if it is difficult. Conversations that are not had become ghosts and the team will not be able to focus on what is really important.

Finally, we must identify the goal we want to achieve, the "why" we work. It is important to find meaning and purpose to what we do. Therefore, corporate culture is the basis for achieving this "change the world", although it is complicated to take it to internship . Any strategy without a coherent culture to support it will not be fruitful.

The session ended with a reflection on the personal and professional challenges of the 21st century. The increased use of technology, such as social networks, has made people more impatient and selfish than ever before, so he advised students not to forget the importance of loving the people around them and reaching maturity staff and professional maturity so that the changes they generate are positive for others. This means moving from rebelliousness to a spirit of service to others. And the only way to do this is self-demand, confidence and humility.
