"Cepsa Case: Naomi Gonzalez presents her final thesis at IESE Business School work Master's Degree

"It was a luxury to listen to Teresa Mañueco, Director of Planning and development ESG of Cepsa, explaining the challenges faced by the company with the implementation of good governance policies within the organization," said the student.

On October 10, Naomi González, alumna of the XI class of Master's Degree at Personnel Management Service, presented the project "Cepsa Case" at the IESE Business School in Madrid, together with Teresa Mañueco, Director of Planning and development ESG at Cepsa,

This event was the kick-off of the project "Call for Business Cases", the result of a three-way agreement between IESE's Social Leadership program, the association Spanish ESG Sustainability Executives, and the University of Navarra, and whose goal is to carry out practical cases in all aspects of sustainability: environmental, social and governance.

Under this agreement, students at Degree and post Degree develop these cases as part of their TFG or TFM, under the guidance of an IESE professor, and then enter a process of work with an IESE professor in order to become IESE cases.

The student had the opportunity to present the purpose of this case, which deals with the challenges of the company to incorporate sustainability policies in its corporate governance outline . In the workshop, the cases of Enagas (how it is carrying out its decarbonization process), DKV (how it is implementing the corporate purpose ) and BBVA (how to deploy a diversity policy) were also presented.

The Cepsa Case pursues several objectives. On the one hand, to demonstrate the company's good practice in the face of the new ESG challenges. Specifically, this case revolves around G (Governance) and is contextualized in the moment in which Cepsa decided to implement good governance policies within the organization.

Beyond this goal and focusing on the pedagogical vision of the case, the aim of the Cepsa Case is, firstly, to offer an approach to Good Governance of companies and to show the relevance of this for the correct management of business. Secondly, to foster the ability to analyze alternatives and make decisions from the perspective of senior management, thus complying with the characteristics of the Case Method.

For the student it was a great opportunity to be able to attend to workshop of presentation of project, "Call for Business Cases" and to expose the state of her project with the company.

"It was a luxury to listen to Teresa Mañueco, Director of Planning and development ESG at Cepsa, explaining the challenges the company faced with the implementation of good governance policies within the organization. Listening to her story, it was easy to explain the purpose we are pursuing with this case", said the student.
