For many, rugby is a sport about which very little is known. This was true for Reyes Viñals (MED' 26) until very recently. She had played basketball, contemporary dance, sailing... but it had never crossed her mind to play rugby. However, now she trains with nine other friends in the Iruña Rugby Club, the University's rugby school. Her dream is to reach 20 and be able to compete next year.

How did you discover rugby?
I came to sports center with some friends on Sports Day. We were already leaving, but as we walked past the field the coach of the boys' team suggested we play. We loved it, and they told us to come the following week to train with them. After a couple of days we met up and set up the team.

What attracted you most to the sport?
That it is a team sport. The goal is clear: you always have to move forward. However, this is easier when you know you have a team behind you that supports you. Also, it is a very supportive sport: if you take off, the next one will have to go. You try to do everything you can so that the rest of the team can move forward.

Is it really as aggressive a sport as it seems?
The truth is that I always had that stereotype in my head. But anyone can play, because there are all subject of positions: some are more about defending, but others are more about running or jumping.

What are you enjoying the most?
The atmosphere. Even if you feel lazy to go to training, you feel like it to be with people. Both with my teammates and with the coaches. You create very close ties, both on and off the field.

Do you notice that you get something from playing rugby?
It teaches me to see that even if there are difficulties, you have to keep moving forward. And even if you fall down, you have to get up. financial aid It teaches you to have more discipline.

If you had to convince someone in 30 seconds to join the team, what would you tell them?
That it is a very good opportunity to live a different experience, from which you learn things very applicable to your whole life: companionship, the discipline, the effort, the family atmosphere that is created ... everything brings you and makes you grow. In addition, these friendships stay with you forever.

If you are interested in learning more about the team or would like to be part of it, do not hesitate to write to them.
