The students Alfredo Zúñiga, Fernando Flores and Luis Alberola, accompanied by Victor Lana, PhD student of the School Law, as coach, have participated in the Vis Pree-Moot in Madrid, which took place on March 2 and 3. The meeting brings together students from other national and international universities including: IE University, Universidad Carlos III, San Pablo CEU, University of Glasgow, University of Bonn, Universidade Nova de Lisboa and the Johannes Gutemberg-Universitat Mainz and is a "internship" for the international Moot Court competition that will take place in Vienna, between March 30 and 6.

In this edition of the Vis Pree-Moot in Madrid, the law firms Allen&Overy, Perez Llorca, Cuatrecasas and Hogan Lovells are participating. Our students must show their best skills in an international arbitration case

A Moot Court is a law competition between universities around the world. It consists of the simulation of a trial on a legal topic of international law. The School Law School of the University of Navarra offers its students the opportunity to participate in one of the two teams representing the school in the Moot Courts held at the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot (Vienna) and the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition (Washington).

Participants, who must be grouped into teams, can be students enrolled at School of Law from any university in the world, which they will represent throughout the competition.

For the preparation of the cases, the team may have one or more coaches to guide the research and develop the team's communication, verbal expression, etc. skills.

Normally, a Moot Court is composed of two phases: a first written phase of preparation of documents about the case (complaint, answer to the complaint, pleadings...); and an oral phase, where the different teams compete against each other, either as plaintiffs or defendants, defending their arguments before a court. All teams must have prepared both defenses since, throughout the competition, the court may apply for the team that defends both the defendant and the plaintiff.
