Three alumni who graduated in Psychology from the University have obtained one of the 286 positions for Resident Intern Psychologists announced by the Ministry of Health. They are Ángela González Ozcoidi, Xavier Rodríguez Vidal, and Arantzazu Muñoz Guerrero, from Pamplona, Lleida, and Guayaquil (Ecuador), respectively.
For Ángela González, who graduated in 2023, this is her third attempt, in which she has obtained 166th place. "In previous years, I had come very close, ranking 381st in the first round and 300th in the second. I have persisted in the process because it is my greatest vocation and I felt that I was close to achieving it," she says. Regarding her area of specialization, Ángela is particularly interested in child and adolescent neuropsychology. The Navarran is clear that, if possible, she wants to do her residency program the Navarran Health Service. "If this option is not possible, I would choose the Basque Country, preferably Vitoria."
Meanwhile, his classmate Xavier Rodríguez, from the class of 2020, was able to invest little time in preparing for the test, in which he ranked 186th. "Due to personal circumstances, I've had to travel a lot recently, so I've only been able to devote six months to it," he says. As for his specialization priorities, Xavier explains that, although he is interested in learning about all the areas, people, and types of problems to which clinical psychology can be applied, he is particularly attracted to "severe mental disorders, those who suffer the most and are most misunderstood. Psychotic problems, the most severe personality disorders, and the most serious neuroses," he emphasizes.
After three unsuccessful attempts, Arantzazu Muñoz has secured the 244th spot. Although she hasn’t decided on a specialization yet, she is interested in exploring the field of personality (both general and pathological) or intervention for victims of abuse and/or gender-based violence. Arantzazu would prefer to stay in the Basque Country, “and if not, then nearby regions like Navarre, Cantabria, or La Rioja,” she notes.
