The University promotes the first Ibero-American meeting employment youth and in front of COVID-19

Twelve universities from eight countries participate in this event to help young people face the challenge of employment present and future.

The youth employment has been greatly affected by the crisis caused by the COVID-19, so much so that in Spain 40% of those under 25 years of age are unemployed status . In this context and with the goal to help young people who are looking for employment is born the Iberoamerican Work Challenge Forum the first Iberoamerican Work Challenge Forum, the first Iberoamerican employment youth meeting . Promoted by the University of Navarra and co-organized with 11 other universities from 8 countries, it will be held online and free of charge from April 13 to 15.

"We could not stand idly by, we had to cushion the effects of the crisis as much as possible and try to reflect and support young people who are facing the challenge that presents the employment of the present and the future," explains Roberto Cabezas Ríos, director of Career Services at the University of Navarra. 

The Spanish universities participating in the event, in addition to the University of Navarra, are: Universidad Villanueva (Madrid), Universidad CEU San Pablo (Madrid), Universidad CEU Cardenal Herrera (Valencia) and Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (Barcelona). Also participating are Universidad Austral (Argentina); Universidad de La Sabana (Colombia); Universidad de Piura (Peru); Universidad de Montevideo (Uruguay); Universidad de los Andes (Chile); Universidad Panamericana (Mexico) and Universidad de los Hemisferios (Ecuador).

The meeting will serve to reflect, through workshops, e-conferences and masterclasses, on the changes that society is experiencing around the youth employment , where the classic paradigms have been put in check. "We are living a very disruptive moment in history. The world has changed and requires us to change with it, companies, universities and professionals. Many people will need or will need to retrain to ensure their employability," explains Roberto Cabezas.

The meeting is aimed primarily at university students in their final years and young graduates, as well as human resources professionals. Those interested can register on the website www.universityemploymentlab.com, where the complete program is also available.

International leaders

The first workshop of the Iberoamerican Work Challenge Forum is dedicated to university students, and will offer workshops on the search for employment, professional success and staff and the future of work. The second day is aimed at graduates and will address topics such as digital and cultural transformation, the role of women leaders, new talent and the reinvention of companies. Finally, the third workshop is aimed exclusively at human resources professionals, and will reflect on leadership and the challenges of the future.

In addition to the participation of students and recent graduates, it will be attended by business leaders and international references such as Patricia Lajara, vice president of HR of Ralph Lauren Europe, Middle East and Africa; Javier Sánchez Lamelas, founder & CEO of Top Line Marketing Consulting; Juan Torroba, CEO of BeWanted; Claudia Márquez, president and vice president of Hyundai Motor Mexico; Santi García, co-founder of Future For Work Institute; Francisco Fernández, director HR of Atlético de Madrid; Fernanda Llergo, president general of Universidad Panamericana - IPADE; Lorena Ponce De León, first lady of Uruguay; Alfonso Sánchez-Tabernero, President of the University of Navarra; Nicolas Morales, co-founder of Pegas con sentido; and Martín Ticinese, president of Cervecería y Maltería Quilmes, among others.
