Un experto pide implicación de la comunidad en la conservación de los bienes culturales de la Iglesia, por su peso en el patrimonio español y europeo
An expert calls for community involvement in the conservation of the Church's cultural assets, due to their importance in Spanish and European heritage
José María Martí, professor of Ecclesiastical Law, at the University of Navarra, calls for a greater commitment "to explain what it costs to enjoy works of art and what they bring".
"There should be a more active commitment on the part of the whole community to support the conservation of the cultural assets of the Church, since they have a great weight within the Spanish and European heritage: it is something precious for current citizens and future generations". This was the opinion of José María Martí, professor of State Ecclesiastical Law at the University of Castilla-La Mancha. The expert intervened in the IX Symposium of the high school Martín de Azpilcueta, which is held under the degree scroll 'Legal regime of places of worship. New frontier of religious freedom'.
Professor Martí stressed that this partnership of citizenship is necessary to complement the Spanish Historical Heritage Law of 1985: "This law provides a series of measures to 'compensate' the effort made by the Church to maintain the use of heritage and ensure its survival, such as advantageous access to credit , allocating a percentage of public works to preserve heritage, tax exemptions for patrons, etc. However, this is not enough, given the enormous effort involved in this work and the current difficult economic situation".
Approach of children and young people
On the other hand, he stressed that it is not only a question of subsidies or tax exemptions by the authorities, but of encouraging "involvement staff and social involvement. It is about creating an attitude, using a pedagogy of commitment that explains what it costs to enjoy works of art and what they bring". In this sense, he mentioned the great reception of project 'Las Edades del Hombre', which this year celebrates its XVI edition.
Finally, he regretted that "in the Education cultural aspects and the deepening of one's own roots are neglected". Thus, he proposed to encourage "an approach of children and young people to their heritage, both from the centers of training and from the media".
