"The presence of two female teachers at classroom encourages dialogue with students."

Raquel Cascales and Rosa Fernández Urtasun, researchers from the School of Philosophy y Letraswill be teaching from the 2022-23 academic year the subject Theory of the Arts, which deals with the study of artistic ideas and theories that have emerged throughout history, studying the aesthetic and technical aspects.

Before starting the course, they thought of a way to give a twist to the way of teaching the teaching and, instead of dividing the classes according to their specialization, they decided to share the classroom and articulate the classes with a dialogue format among them and with the students.

The goal is to show the need for both speeches centered around a topic but with different arguments and perspectives: "There were some students who, in the final assessment , said that there was a certain tension between the teachers", explained Rosa Fernández Urtasun, "while others stated that, as it was in dialogue format, there was more tranquility in class for the student to take the floor".

In the development of the classes, one or the other takes the lead depending on the area they are approaching. "The role of the other in the class is to add, comment, ask or nuance. Each one according to their area of research, which are very different," commented Raquel Cascales.
