Cancer experts meet quotation at the congress International Student Oncology Conference
More than 300 students will participate in the fourteenth edition of this event at the University.
310 students will meet quotation next February 22, 23 and 24 at the fourteenth edition of the congress International Oncology for Students (COE), organized at the School of Medicine of the University of Navarra.
The event, graduate "Approaching cancer in the 21st centuryThe event, , "Approaching cancer in the 21st century," will provide an in-depth look at advances in this disease through a program that includes keynote lectures, seminars, round tables and oral presentations.
The participants come from international centers such as the Ruprecht Karl University of Heidelberg or the Universidad de Los Andes in Santiago de Chile, and other national centers such as the Autónoma de Madrid and Barcelona, Alfonso X Sabio, Complutense, Miguel Hernández, Sevilla, Zaragoza, Cantabria, Barcelona, CEU Cardenal Herrera or Granada, among others.
In addition, the COE wants to provide an interdisciplinary vision of cancer and therefore, has congress participants studying Science, Nursing, Pharmacy, Medicine, Psychology or the Master's Degree in research Biomedical of the University of Navarra.
A transversal vision of OncologyOver the course of three days, attendees will be able to listen to speakers such as Ruth Vera, president of the Spanish Society of Medical Oncology; Jean Pierre Arman, oncologist and former president of the European Society of Medical Oncology; and businessman José Manuel Vargas, who will speak on "The management of challenge in the business environment: lessons in the face of the challenge of the disease", among others.
On the other hand, several seminars have been organized such as "Quality of life in cancer", "Management cancer care" or "Pediatric Oncology"; as well as a workshop for the resolution of practical cases developed in the laboratory of Medical Engineering in which the participants will act divided in multidisciplinary groups formed by doctor, nurse, pharmacist, biologist, psychologist, etc. With the goal to underline the importance of work as a team.
Finally, there will be a session involving patients and specialists entitled "Coping with cancer, compassion" and visits to the simulation centers of the School Nursing and Medicine departments, to the Clínica Universidad de Navarra and the research center Applied Medicine (CIMA).
The congress International Oncology for Students is an initiative of students of the biosanitary Schools of the University of Navarra in which every year they meet with the main goal to learn everything related to the research, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and care of cancer from the scientific, human and social perspective. The quotation is recognized by the Ministry of Health, the association Spanish Against Cancer, the Spanish Society of Medical Oncology and the Government of Navarra.
