In addition to learning law in the classroom, the students of the Degree Law School of the University of Navarra also learn law outside of the classroom thanks to the Legal Clinica program that teaches students how to practice law through pro bono practical activities.

In this program, the students of Degree in Law approach the practice of law from three main areas: AJÁ (legal aid de Alumnos), a free counseling service for students, professors and staff of the University of Navarra; the School of Law in the Streetdedicated to providing training basic legal advice to vulnerable groups, and research applied law.

During the 2018-2019 academic year, 60 students participated in the program. The program was dedicated to four major topics that responded to issues of high social interest: most common crimes in the school environment, immigration, protected heritage and dependency and disability. To inform about these topics, the students gave free sessions to a dozen schools and institutes in Pamplona and to groups and organizations such as Caritas Diocesana de Navarra, the association of Venezuelans in Pamplona and the association of Ecuadorians in Pamplona.

Some 36 students are expected to participate during the 2019-2020 academic year. Almost 40 sessions are expected to be given to a minimum of nine schools and institutes related to the most frequent crimes in the school environment: bullying, violence, disclosure of secrets, sale and donation of drugs. Talks related to the rights of foreigners residing in Spain and sessions on dependency and disability will also be organized.

Since their beginnings in the United States during the Great Depression, legal clinics have spread and grown in popularity. Today, they are a recurring format of teaching at Schools law schools around the world.

The coordinator of the Legal Clinic of the School Law School of the University of Navarra is Professor Pilar Arregui Zamorano, professor of History of Law.
