Last Saturday, November 23rd, the 2013 Navarre Senior Taekwondo Championship took place at the Larrabide Stadium. Five students from the taekwondo sports school of the University of Navarra participated in this competition, who were accompanied by coaches David García Ros, David Zunzarren and Mikel Ijurko.

This is a summary of the participation of university representatives:

1) Javier Huarte (Talento Deportivo 2012 and 2013), 68-80 kg, Gold medal.
He won 3 bouts. In semifinals against his "tormentor" of last year's final (Haran), he managed to come back in the third round brilliantly.

2) Victoria Jaso (Talento Deportivo 2012), 57-67 kg, Gold medal.
She won 2 fights. The first one was a little cold, but in the final she won with a great superiority.

3) Ferrán Codés (Talento Deportivo 2012 and 2013), 58-68 kg, Bronze medal.
He won the first fight with result bulky. In the semifinals he crossed with Jonathan Narbaiza, member of the Spanish national team who lives and trains in the CAR of Murcia. He made possibly one of the best bouts of the workshop, losing by only 10-8. Narbaiza was later proclaimed champion winning in the final with a much more comfortable result .

4) María Contreras (Talento Deportivo 2012 and 2013), 49-57 kg.
She had bad luck in the draw and found herself in 1st round with the favorite, from the Tecnification program of the Navarre national team. Even so, he did a great fight.

5) Antonio Tienza, 58-68 kg
He was the most novice competitor of the five, but he showed great courage against a superior opponent. The University of Navarra team is considering encouraging him to return to his previous weight class (-58kg).
