The School of Canon Law celebrated on 26th May the graduation ceremony of the 17 students who are part of the LX promotion. The meeting began with a Eucharist at 11 a.m., followed by the academic ceremony in which diplomas, scholarships and medals were awarded to the new graduates.

Professor José Bernal was elected godfather of the graduating class. He said he felt very "honoured" by the recognition that the students had given him, and in his speech he reminded them that they were taking with them "science in abundance and a great preparation", as well as very good friends: "The fraternal networks are a treasure".

He also emphasised the responsibility they now have to "lead the work of the Church as jurists" and the importance of being courageous in assuming the responsibilities entrusted to them in their dioceses in order to give "a lot of light".

The student delegate, Jorge Armando Castro, also spoke at the graduation and thanked the teachers, classmates, relatives, benefactors and the University for the training and support received during the three years. In his words he also remembered the teachers of the School who have retired: Javier Otaduy, Valentín Gómez-Iglesias, José Antonio Fuentes and José Ignacio Bañares.

The ceremony was closed by the Dean of the School of Canon Law, Joaquín Sedano, who explained that they now become ambassadors of the University wherever they are, and encouraged them to live the years ahead of them in the same way as they have done these three courses of licentiate degree: "With much love for God and desire to serve all souls".
