Resumen: The goal of this paper is to bring forth how Spain has made steps toward the international movement in favour of education for citizenship. This has arisen from the withdrawal of participation we are witnessing.A brief summary of the context and recent history in Spain is given, and also a reference to the current issues ¿ the emerging voices ¿ together with the new perspectives within the area of education for citizenship. It concludes by tackling the need for and possibility of citizenship education within the framework of moral education, underlining the importance of
contents, attitudes, and skills.
