In this article we estudy the doctrine of the agent intellect according to Ioanne Merinero. He affirms that it belongs to the man, that it is not a `separated sustance'. He characterizes it like `potency', not as act; a potency that is different from the possible intellect. Nevertheless, as he affirms that the immaterial faculties are not really different from the soul, they will be different only `formally ' (influence of Scotus). He assigns to him the job of abstraction, producing the intelligible species, and defends also that its operability is not cognitive. In sum, his thesis seems to be a synthesis or bridge between the tomism and the scotism.
