Environmental engineering
The group Environmental Engineering focuses its research on the development and optimization of new solutions and technologies for the treatment and recovery of water and waste compounds, all from a vision of circular Economics.
All activities of the group are carried out at partnership and as part of the Water and Waste group in Ceit.
The activities of group at research and development can be developed in the field of work experimental or mathematical modelling and simulation. The activity is applied in industrial sectors (agri-food, paper, oil & gas, pharmaceutical and health) and in urban areas (wastewater and solid waste). The lines currently active are:
New technologies and solutions for the recovery of compounds from water and solid waste in the context of Economics circular. In general, this line of work is approached from a simulation and experimental validation point of view.
New solutions for the management optimal use of water in industry. Solutions based on the management of data and simulation of water circuits with the goal to reduce water consumption and propose sustainable solutions from an economic and environmental point of view.
Treatment of emerging pollutants in water and waste. development of technological solutions to measure and eliminate emerging compounds in water, sludge and waste.
Biorefinery: study of new solutions based on the valorisation of waste, using physical and chemical processes.
During the last years, we have participated together with the group de Agua y Residuos de Ceit-BRTA in different regional, national and European projects with engineering companies and other international universities. Some outstanding projects are Life MCUBO, Aquafit4use.
