Lines of research

One of the mechanisms used by pathogens to persist in humans is to modulate the host's immune response. Therefore, understanding these mechanisms is essential both to understand the transmission and progression of the disease they cause, and to study new therapeutic targets in the fight against these pathogens. In this section, we characterise the immune response in animal models that chronically harbour the pathogen, as well as after the administration of possible candidate treatments.
