The main objective of this study was to analyze the relationship between structured, unstructured, and family leisure activities on the frequency of adolescent alcohol intake across three different countries (Spain, Peru, and The Netherlands). The self-control of adolescents was also investigated as a moderator in the relationship between leisure activities and alcohol consumption. Methodology: This research involved 4608 adolescents aged between 12 and 17 from three countries (Spain, Peru, and The Netherlands). In Spain and Peru, data was collected through a self-report questionnaire which was part of the Your Life project. In The Netherlands, a self-questionnaire was used, collected by the University of Utrecht. A multiple logistic regression was performed for each country. Results: The results showed that participation in unstructured leisure activities increased the likelihood of drinking more frequently and more heavily in all three countries. Structured leisure activities, in general, did not have a significant predictive effect on alcohol consumption in any of the countries. Family leisure activities reduced the risk of engaging in yearly alcohol use and yearly binge drinking among adolescents, especially in The Netherlands and Spain. The protective effect of family leisure and unstructured leisure risk on yearly alcohol use applied especially to Dutch adolescents with a low level of self-control. Discussion: The article emphasizes the need for parents to engage in leisure activities with their child; participation in unstructured activities is not to be encouraged.

Introduction: The main goal of this study is to analyse the relationship between problematic use of information technologies and speech (UPT), executive functions (inhibitory control, planning and goal achievement) and adolescents' leisure activities (positive leisure and unstructured leisure), as a function of gender, age and academic performance. Methodology: 3,831 school-aged adolescents aged 13 to 18 from 4 countries (Chile, Spain, Mexico and Peru) participated in this research . The instrument used was the questionnaire self-report instrument from project YOURLIFE. A multiple linear regression analysis has been carried out in order to obtain a predictive model . Results Analyses showed that UPT was more frequent in the older group . The predictive model indicated that lower inhibitory control as well as unstructured leisure activities were associated with PTU. Positive leisure activities (family activities and recreational reading) were found to be protective factors for UPT. Discussion: The article highlights the need to develop programmes for adolescents that promote positive leisure activities, educational and psychological intervention and the involvement of parents in the Education for the efficient use of information technologies and manager and speech.

Abstract
summary Since the 20th century leisure has played a crucial role in society, Economics, culture and Education. This fact has sparked a great interest in studying the connection of this phenomenon with lifestyles, satisfaction, environment, and the relationship between leisure and work. This article analyses the influence of leisure on young people's lives. In the first part, a bibliographical review of the main sociological and psychological theories that explain its meaning, evolution and relationship with work is carried out. In the second part, the model of development is presented, focusing more on the flourishing of young people's potential than on preventing risky behaviour. Positive use of leisure time is based on structured, voluntary participation, intrinsic motivation and adult supervision. It is concluded that the involvement of young people in associations, organisations and institutions that develop structured activities with voluntary or self-involved participation facilitates the transition to adult life, in relation to the constructive use of time coupled with free and enjoyable leisure.

Participation in organised Extracurricular Activities has contributed to improve academic achievement. However, this does not happen in the same way; it depends on sex, age, or parental educational level. Our objective is to know the importance of these factor interactions¿ in the explanation of academic achievement. The sample consisted of 1148 adolescents, aged between 12 and 18 years, 52% of whom were female. Participants completed the Extracurricular Activities questionnaire, and academic and sociodemographic data were collected. The results show that differences in academic achievement depend on the adolescent stage. In early adolescence, girls improve in academic achievement, as well as with better parental education, reading of books and activity duration. On the contrary, in the middle and late adolescence, academic achievement improves with not participating in collective sports and reduced activity breadth, although parental educational level follows the same trend as in the early adolescence. These results reinforce the evolutionary hypothesis of specialization in the choice of activities throughout adolescence. In this sense, some proposals for schools that advocate for greater integration of curricular and non-curricular elements are discussed.

Introduction: Structured and unstructured leisure are known protective and risk factors, respectively, for alcohol consumption during adolescence. However, little is known about the interaction between the two leisure types and alcohol consumption.
Method: A cross-sectional study was performed among high-school students in El Salvador and Peru. Schooled adolescents, aged 13¿18 (N=5,640), completed a self-administered questionnaire about risk behaviors, including their leisure activities and whether they had consumed alcoholic beverages. They were classified into tertiles of the amount of time of both structured and unstructured activities. A non-conditional multivariate logistic regression was conducted to evaluate the association of both types of leisure with alcohol consumption. We also used a likelihood ratio test to assess the potential interaction of structured and unstructured leisure time in alcohol consumption.
Results: Alcohol consumption was much more frequent among adolescents in the highest tertile of unstructured leisure time compared to the lowest one, and less frequent among those from the highest tertile of structured leisure time compared to the lowest one. We did not find an interaction effect between structured and unstructured leisure time with regard to initiation of alcohol consumption.
Discussion: The study suggests that structured leisure is not enough to compensate for the possible harmful effect of unstructured leisure. Parents, educators and policy

In this paper we study whether parental knowledge of adolescents' activities varies according to partner-demographic variables, and we analyze the possible association between parental knowledge patterns and certain risk behaviors among adolescents. A cross-sectional study was performed with representative samples of high-school students in Peru and El Salvador. A questionnaire assessed risk behaviors, as well as possible determinants, including parental knowledge. The questionnaire was answered by 6208 adolescents. We observed that the greater the degree of knowledge, the lower the frequency of risk behaviors among youth. The degree of knowledge was inversely associated with children's age, and we observed that being female was associated with a greater degree of parental knowledge. The study shows that parents' supervision criteria might be influenced by gender stereotypes, which would have a harmful effect on young males, as the lower degree of knowledge puts them at higher odds of risk behaviors.
