Julia Pavon (Madrid, 1968) holds a PhD in History from the University of Navarra (1996) and is a tenured professor of Medieval History, as well as the Chair of the History Department since 2012 . Her research has centered on the the Kingdom of Navarra during the High Middle Ages (her doctoral thesis, The People of Navarra in the High Middle Ages was published in Pamplona in 2001). She has also researched man's attitude towards death, and edited Death and the Medieval Man, Valencia, 2007. Pavon also made major contributions to the Spanish Biographical Dictionary, writing more than twenty entries on historical figures from the Middle Ages in Navarra. She was lead editor on both Medieval Queens of Navarra, Madrid 2014 and Rewriting the Middle Ages in the Twentieth Century. III. Political Theory and Practice, Turnhout, Brepols Publishers, 2015. Currently Pavon is investigating the Order of the Hospital and Temple, with books such as The Order of Saint John in Jerusalem. Medieval Panoramas and Peninsular Trajectories, 2013 and is now preparing Diplomatarium of the Hospital Order of Navarra (12th cent. through 1487) in two volumes.
