Resilience
The Tecnun Resilience group focuses on the development for more resilient and sustainable urban environments. Its main projects have focused on the capacities of cities to cope with both foreseen and unforeseen crises arising from climate change, the interdependence of critical infrastructures, social dynamics and cyber attacks. Group model building (GMB), system dynamics, Delphi Study and focus group techniques are used for this purpose. In recent years, participation in both European and local projects has led research to focus mainly on climate change and cybersecurity issues.
At Tecnun Resilience we are currently working on:
Social resilience analysis specifying how the interactions between authorities and emergency services with society have to be in order to involve society in the management of disasters and to better manage and respond to disasters.
assessment and management models for development resilience in urban environments to better prepare for, respond to and recover from shocks resulting from climate change, interdependence of critical infrastructure and social dynamics.
development of new governance models in the urban environment in the context of climate change.
Frameworks for managing public-private and people partnership to better implement resilience strategies in cities.
Models of management to develop the awareness of the agents that make up a city to better implement resilience strategies on climate change issues.
development cyber resilience in companies to better prepare for, respond to and recover from cyber-attacks.
To this end, we used the techniques of group model building (GMB), system dynamics, Delphi Study and focus group.
We actively collaborate with other university centres such as the University of Agder in Norway, with national city councils such as Donostia and Tolosa and international ones such as Kristiansand in Norway and Rome in Italy. We also maintain a close relationship with consultancies such as ICLEI or CEN-CENELEC.
