Father Menni

The Sisters Hospitallers have been present in Navarra since 1904.
A century has passed and the Congregation remains faithful to its mission statement in Navarra in the areas of psychiatry, intellectual disability and psychogeriatrics. Father Menni came to Navarre as a Red Cross volunteer in 1874 and 1875. He became friends with notable Navarrese of the time, such as Dr. Nicasio Landa, and participated in the design and the foundation of the psychiatric institution of Navarra. But it was not until 1904 when the Sisters Hospitallers of the Sacred Heart of Jesus were installed in Navarra, becoming position of the attendance to women in the Psychiatric Hospital San Francisco Javier of Pamplona, after the signature of a contract with the Diputación de Navarra for the attendance of the mentally ill.

In 1950 the Clínica Nuestra Señora del Camino was founded, the precursor of the current Clínica Psiquiátrica Padre Menni de Pamplona, a name it adopted in 1995.

The Benito Menni Hospital Center in Elizondo was founded in 1938 under the name of Clínica Nuestra Señora del Pilar. The name was changed to the current one in 1997.
