The Contemporary Parnassus: Luis Cernuda

A new surrealist author stars in the episode of Parnaso Contemporáneo, a podcast directed by Izaro Díaz, student of Degree in Philology Hispánica and Clara Buedo, student of Degree in Literature and Creative Writing and in partnership with Radio Universidad de Navarra.

Episode 6 - Luis Cernuda:

Surrealism is permeating this season of Parnaso Contemporáneo. In this episode we will analyse its influence on the work Los placeres prohibidos by the poet Luis Cernuda.

We see a Cernuda who is going through a failed love affair and whose pain and rage serve as an excuse to delve into social criticism. In this collection of poems, Cernuda makes a plea against the corrupt, hypocritical and closed society in which he lives. Like his contemporary, the poet Federico García Lorca, Cernuda takes up again the concern for the loss of identity and freedom in love in a double reading that we analyse in detail.

We cannot forget the declamation that accompanies each of the episodes. In this case, it stars Jorge Leataud, student of Degree at Philosophy, Política y Economics (PPE).

  What is the contemporary parnassus?

This is a literature podcast, published fortnightly, about different authors. It is aimed at people who do not have time to research or inform themselves, but are passionate about literature and want to discover it.

Each chapter will be dedicated to an author and we will talk about the literary movement to which he or she belongs and his or her great work, where we will discuss according to our opinions, tastes and previous background.
