The Contemporary Parnassus: Rubén Darío on World Poetry Day

This 21 March we celebrate World Poetry Day with the inauguration of El Parnaso Contemporáneo, a podcast directed by Izaro Díaz, a student of the double Degree at Philology + Journalism and Clara Buedo, student of the Degree in Literature and Creative Writing and at partnership with Radio University of Navarra.

The Contemporary Parnassus: Rubén Darío on World Poetry Day

Episode I - Rubén Darío on World Poetry Day

This pilot episode, which coincides with World Poetry Day, revolves around Rubén Darío, one of the greatest exponents of Spanish-American literature. We discover a life marked by rebellion, the tabloids, avant-gardism and the creation of a movement that transformed our concept of literature.

Modernism is the other major protagonist in this episode: we discuss its origins, the earlier movements from which it draws, its sensual character and its development in Latin America and Spain.

We also dive into Darío's great work: Azul. We reflect on this great work, on the goal of his poems and comment on a story or two, before finally arriving at the finale of the podcast with Autumnal declaimed by Jorge Leautaud, who is not Nicaraguan but a great and modern minstrel.

Contemporary Parnassus

What is the contemporary parnassus?

This is a literature podcast, published fortnightly, about different authors. It is aimed at people who do not have the time to research or inform themselves, but are passionate about literature and are eager to discover it.

Each chapter will be dedicated to an author and we will talk about his or her biography, the literary movement to which he or she belongs and his or her great work, where we will discuss according to our opinions, tastes and previous background.
