At the top of one of the branches of the Camino de Santiago that crosses the campus of the University of Navarra, there is a Shrine of Our Lady of Fair Love dedicated to the Virgin Mary, in her invocation of "Mother of the Beautiful Love".
It was commissioned in 1965 by St. Josemaria Escriva de Balaguer, President General of Opus Dei, founder and first Chancellor of the University of Navarra, moved by his devotion to the Blessed Virgin and his affection for the University.
An elevated place was sought for it from which, in some way, the image of the Virgin would preside over the campus and the Clinic.
He has been worshipped in this small Shrine of Our Lady of Fair Love since 1966.
The original figure is the work of Pascual Sciancalepore and was sculpted in white marble with great mastery in the treatment of the fabrics and folds as well as in its spectacular Anatomy.
Blessed in Rome by Pope St. Paul VI, it arrived in Pamplona on February 22, 1966.
This replica of the figure of the Virgin seeks to bring our image of the Mother of Fair Love closer to all those who in some way have venerated her from the university, the clinic, student life and homes.

ABOUT THE ORIGINAL SCULPTURE
According to St. Josemaría's autograph grade for the commission of our Lady to the sculptor Sciancalepore.... "She is life-size, rather tall; seated and holding the Child Jesus, who will be standing on a stack of books; the spines of at least three of these books will be visible: the lowest, on which will read degree scroll: Civil Law; another will read Medicine; and the highest, Ius Canonicum; the Child will hold a rose in his left hand, pressed against his breast; and with his right hand, he will bless.
