On proposal a metaphor is established to explain the concept of dignity in relation to nursing. The nurse, with her work, tries to give and preserve the dignity of the patient. And, in turn, the patient in some way dignifies the nursing profession at the moment of receiving care. 

A flow of "dignity" is thus established between the patient and the nurse in both directions. I have used the figure of a tree to represent this relationship: the substrate (green colour), which gives support and nutrients to the tree, is identified with the nurse. While the plant, which takes what the substrate offers, offers another subject of advantages to the ground (the falling leaves). 

I chose this image of nature because I think that the work of the nurse is very natural for human beings: to take care of us and to look after our well-being. 

We are social and communitarian beings by nature.
