The first approach to the valley sample the rich landscape and topography of the area with a high presence of trees and nature. Aranguren, in particular, is a small rural agglomeration in which a vaulted masonry bridge and the Tower of Aranguren itself are the elements that stand out from the rest of the surrounding buildings.
Crossed by the river Atxuri, the southern section is depopulated and gives way to the entrance of the caprice of the topography on which rests a hive of trees that in the south-western part of the settlement breathes in a wide void in front of which the new construction will be sheltered. A relationship of extremes is thus established: the tower as the first element to the east and the new complex to the west, making Username for anyone crossing the Orozko-Areatza road. Thus, two new volumes emerge, enveloped by the forest and maintaining a certain distance from the more traditional constructions, thus reducing possible negative externalities for the citizens of the village.
In the topographical play of the formal organicity of the terrain, the verticality of the forest and the flatness of the plain, two pieces emerge which respond to these randomly imposed rules of nature and which, together with the materiality, seek to establish a new relationship between past, present and future. The first, more discreet and heavier, sits on the level of the plain and contains the laboratories and offices. The second contains the rural accommodation and is the one that rises above the plain to position itself as an element of reference letter and is unmistakably present in the natural framework .
Thus, the intention of capturing the attention is evident and the access is kept hidden to make itself present in the Torre de Aranguren, with a transversal elevated element that crosses both road and river and penetrates the forest to lead Username back to the new architecture, a living architecture that materialises as the culmination of a transit experience.
