Epitaph of C. Curius Firmanus (71-130 A.D.)

Marble plaque, of great dimension, molded by frieze, ornamented by beads, and by direct rounding, in acanthus leaves. The use of marble (from subject Estremoz-Vila Viçosa) and the fine work of execution of the ornamental elements and the engraving of the epitaph reveal a piece of exceptional quality in the context of the civitas Igaeditanorum and, certainly, of foreign execution. It preserves the epitaph of a Roman citizen of one of the important families of the city, ordered to be executed by his wife, also for herself, while she was still alive. In addition to assuring the memory of Gaio Cúrio Firmano, son of Pulo and registered in the Quirina tribe, who died at 63 years old, and of Cúria Vital, it also shows the high socioeconomic status that this house gained. It is found in the Epigraphic Archive of Idanha-a-Velha.

Dimensions (cm): 88 x 118 x 12
