And what better way to do it than with Liniers, the illustrator of the imagination.

JITANJÁFORA - María Pérez Ibañez

It was yesterday, when as soon as I arrived in the garden (even before opening the house), my little boy came running up to me to carry me:

-Dad, why do cheetahs run with more gait than giraffes?

-Because they are more horse-like animals, my son," I replied as I searched for the keys in my pouch.

-I don't like it that way," the boy frowned.

-Neither do I," I said with as much wisdom as I could muster. But would you like me to confess a secret? -I leaned over him with a serious face and said in a Muslim, "I think the giraffes let the cheetahs win, so that there will be no slang among them.

The little boy limped along happily and did not make any more portunes.

SILENCE - Laura Segovia

Silence. Silence is all that remains. Absorbing himself from those mundane noises, from the hooting of the owl, from the hissing of the leaves moving in the air. Only silence remained. Silence and her. Silence, her and her thoughts.

And even though she felt wrapped and embraced by Silence, her heart was restless. It would not let her rest. Her heart was restless and made her brain and soul not stop. They kept working. Searching for answers. Looking for ways out. Searching... searching for something.

Those moments were good. And at the same time bad. Bad because Silence brought with her only thoughts and thoughts and thoughts and thoughts and thoughts... she brought thoughts. Thoughts that made her heart noisy.

They made the whole house of cards she built every morning teeter dangerously. A simple puff and she would be gone. The paper fortress she had built would crumble.

And all for what? Because of simple thoughts. You have to be strong, she was told. Show that smile that characterises you. Be you.

But sometimes being her was not so easy. She was painted like a Renaissance painting, when it was too modernist. Too complicated. So many intricacies. So many... so much her.

A BRIEF REFLECTION ON LINIERS

Liniers is synonymous with creativity. From each of his characters, Liniers has managed to create a universe that is very similar to the most intimate feelings of the human being. His illustrations are the product of imagination in its primary, pure and childish state. He himself affirms that:

"Childhood is the root of our life. Afterwards we grow like a log...
- And the branches?
- That's when the out-of-control begins."
