Ana Paula López Lezama, 2nd year student of Degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE), presents the third colloquium of the cycle "Leadership skills for women". On this occasion, the guest speaker was Marga Gutiérrez, audiovisual producer and director of various documentaries, who highlighted the importance of activism and the potential of everyday stories.

The third talk in the Women's Leadership Skills series took place on 11 February. The goal of these talks consists of a dialogue between students and a series of women leaders in different fields of work. The story of their experiences, their professional journey and staff make the colloquium flow among the attendees. The speaker for this talk was Marga Gutiérrez, audiovisual producer and director of documentaries such as Pioneras, Cuerdas, A-madas, and Living Kulture.

The stories we transmit are special, not only because the stories of the protagonists move us to take our desires, ideas or inspirations to internship , but also because within each story there is an event that marked our lives and will mark others when it is communicated. The transmission of our perceptions becomes a form of leadership, marking a before and an after, guided through its dissemination.

Marga Gutiérrez, director and audiovisual producer, perfectly understands this thesis . Through her multiple projects, such as the documentary series Pioneras, Cuerdas, A-madas, and Living Kulture, she has managed to communicate different truths, reasons that without the financial aid of her speech would have been forgotten. Stories that not only we would not know, but that would make incomprehensible other scenarios where pain, agony, happiness and sincerity are protagonists.

Marga Gutierrez's leadership is based on awareness through speech of the realities of others. In her work Cuerdas, the director reflects the life of Peruvian women with a great spirit of self-improvement. It focuses on the daily life of a woman's pregnancy in a rural community. Marga chooses the same character, offering a continuity that financial aid helps to understand a position that many find difficult to comprehend. This common thread manages to make the spectator empathise and become aware of the situations through smiles, cries and screams.

For Marga, the most important thing in her productions is tobe able to listen to the testimonies that bring the different realities to life. She manages to offer a realistic vision of the story and to create a real, raw cinematographic work that generates awareness and thought.

What leadership inspires Marga? She inspires a subject activist leadership. It stirs our conscience by presenting real facts that underlie unusual communities. It incites us to take charge of our environment and urges us to change what we find deplorable in our most common situations. Empowerment can be achieved through speech andMarga demonstrates this by capturing the stories of our lives and helping other stories to be born out of them.
