The Contemporary Parnassus: Juan Ramón Jiménez

Episode 4 - Juan Ramón Jiménez:

This season ends with a genius with a J: Juan Ramón Jiménez. We do not discover Platero and Ibut a work born in his most perfect and intellectual stage: Stone and sky. Here we bathe in the sea of his poetry, in the memory and transcendence of the stone man to reach the sky.

Furthermore, in this episode we enter into the Generation of '14 or 'Noucentista', a generation that emerged during the turbulent years of the First World War and which separated Spanish creation from the rest of the world, despite its Europeanist conception, far removed from the nationalism of the previous generation.

It was in this context that the Noucentistes appeared, a generation that championed intellectualism and the cultivation of knowledge, led by the philosopher Ortega y Gasset and made up not only of artists and writers, but also jurists, philosophers, politicians and even scientists.

We hope you have enjoyed this season and we promise to be back in September with more and better content. May you be, eternally, permanently fickle!

What is the contemporary parnassus?

This is a literature podcast, published fortnightly, about different authors. It is aimed at people who do not have the time to research or inform themselves, but are passionate about literature and are eager to discover it.

Each chapter will be dedicated to an author and we will talk about his or her biography, the literary movement to which he or she belongs and his or her great work, where we will discuss according to our opinions, tastes and previous background.
