Organization
The Academic Committee of doctoral program is the collegiate body in charge of the organization, supervision and control of the different procedures of the Program. Its members assume different roles.
- The program's coordinator is a particularly important member of the research team at doctoral program. He leads and coordinates the work of the committee. He is the direct manager of the daily attention and management of the students. The position is carried out by Professor Eduardo Valpuesta, who has been in charge of doctoral program in Law since 1993.
- The Associate Dean manager of third cycle at School is a member of the board Board of Directors of the center to which the program belongs. He collaborates in the academic management and participates in all work sessions of the committee. He provides the vision, planning and coordination with the rest of the research activity of the center. The position is currently held by Professor Luis Javier Arrieta, Associate Dean of research of the School of Law.
- The Deputy Director of the School of doctorate, is a member of the School of doctorate and manager of the area of Social and Legal Sciences and Humanities of the School of doctorate. He collaborates in the academic management and participates in all work sessions of the committee. He provides overall vision, planning and coordination for the School of doctorate of the university. The position is held by Professor Mercedes Montero, from the School of Communication Sciences.
The doctorate can be taken "full time" or "part time". Experience sample has shown that there are many professionals with professor or professional dedication who wish to take the doctorate, but due to their own work status are unable to do so full-time. The student with dedication full-time will be able to apply for of the Academic Committee the change to the status of dedication part-time, justifying the professional dedication that moves him/her to such request. Likewise, a student with part-time may also request a change to the status of dedication full-time, if his/her status professional dedication has been modified.
According to the current rules and regulations , the deadline to carry out the doctoral thesis full time is three years, with a maximum of two one-year extensions (five years in total); the deadline to carry out the doctoral thesis part-time is five years, with a maximum of three one-year extensions (eight years in total). Extensions will be granted by the School of doctorate upon justified and motivated request, and after prior report of the Academic Committee of the Program.
A director must be appointed for the thesis directorship, and a co-director may also be appointed. The requirements to be director or co-director of thesis are listed in the guide of the programs of study of doctorate, which can be consulted in the web page of the School. Through co-supervision agreements, a special system may be established with other doctorate programs so that a student may be co-directed by two professors (one from the University of Navarra, and the other from the University with which the agreement), and may carry out research stays at the other University, and may even, depending on the applicable rules and regulations and the subject of agreement subscribed, obtain the doctorate by both Universities.

The School of Law has established an Internal Quality Assurance System (SGIC) within the second edition of the AUDIT program of the National Agency for Assessment of Quality and Accreditation. It systematically includes the activities that the School develops in order to enhance the quality and continuous improvement of all official degrees (licentiate degree, Degree, Master's Degree and doctorate) and the services it offers. With the incorporation of review and continuous improvement strategies, the School aims to develop and control its actions, review them and redefine them according to the needs and expectations of its stakeholders.
