Last Thursday, October 1, as part of the “ workshop: ‘My Experience Leading People’” organized by the “ Master's Degree ” at Personnel Management Service within the University of Navarra’s organizations, we had the opportunity to hear from Ángel Bonet.
Ángel Bonet is an entrepreneur, consultant, author, and speaker specializing in business strategy, innovation, and Economics from purpose. He has more than 20 years of experience advising companies, investors, and management teams in Europe, the Americas, and Asia. Throughout his professional career, he has held various positions related to strategy, marketing, and business transformation, and was a co-founder of DaemonQuest, a consulting firm later acquired by Deloitte. He also served as Chief Sales & Marketing Officer at Minsait (Indra). He is currently the founder of ImpactCo, a consulting firm specializing in Economics at purpose, where he financial aid organizations to integrate purpose as a central element of their strategy and as a generator of economic and social value. In addition, he is an author, speaker, and co-Director of the Chair for Business with purpose at the University of Navarra.
Ángel Bonet’s session is particularly relevant to the “ framework ” (Organizational Culture) section of the “ Master's Degree ” (Organizational Culture) at Personnel Management Service , as it helps us understand the relationship between an organization’s “ purpose ” and the management of the people who are part of it. The “ purpose ” should not be understood solely as a “ tool ” or a “declaration of intent,” but rather as an element that must be integrated into the strategy, the culture, and the way in which people make decisions and carry out their “ work.” From the perspective of Personnel Management Service, this is essential for understanding how purpose can help foster engagement, attract and retain talent, and align people with the organization’s goals. Therefore, Bonet’s experience offers a internship perspective on how companies can put people at the center of their strategy while simultaneously generating economic and social value.
Today, the business world prioritizes making processes faster and faster; however, the impact that speed has on the environment is often overlooked. Have you ever heard of the “Economics ” or “ purpose ”?
This is the “ proposal ” that Ángel introduced to us through the concept of “philanthropic capitalism”: making money and doing good at the same time, so that both goals reinforce each other. To achieve this, he argues that we must change the “ instructions ” of our economic “ model ,” and he is fully confident that, if we take that step, environmental “ status ” and social inequality will be positively affected.
In addition, Ángel suggested that in the future, the way we measure business success will change: it won’t be enough to focus on “how much”; “how” will also matter. In other words, products and services that meet demand while also generating an economic impact aligned with values. core topic s in doing good, with economic impact following as a consequence; by connecting these two elements, real problems are solved.
We thank Ángel for the ideas he shared with us, and we’d like to invite you to reflect: the “ Economics ” (The Future of the Internet) at purpose aims to ensure that, in the future, we’ll look back and think we were “crazy” to measure the success of a business solely by its profitability. May future generations find it hard to believe.
That's why we're asking you: Do you think this is possible?
