The proposalintervention site is located in the Dutch city of Amsterdam, which is not the capital management assistantof the country but is the largest city centre. The city was founded in the 13th century as a small fishing village on the banks of the river Amstel. Thanks to trade, Amsterdam became one of the most important ports in Europe. This had a great impact on the layout of the city's urban development. Being built on marshy land and with fishing and maritime trade being so important, a series of concentric rings of canals were created over time that began to define the city as it is today. The central area of the complex is the oldest part of the city and is known as the Red Light District. This is where the oldest buildings are located. On the perimeter of this quarter is the project.

The main idea is goalto completely renovate Amsterdam's existing flower market, making it a worthy place for the sale of this iconic product for the country. The new market will be arranged on 3 different levels, clearing the banks of the Singel canal, currently overrun by dilapidated stalls, and returning to the original concept of the "floating market" on the canal itself.

projectJesus Fole

Flowers in Holland are very representative, as it is known as the "florist's shop of the world". Since 1862, the Amsterdam Flower Market has not only been a tourist attraction, but also a favourite place for locals to buy flowers and plants. Originally, more than 140 years ago, hundreds of boats with plants and flowers arrived daily at the Bloemenmarkt for sale. The Dutch love of flowers is something they have never lost.

Today there is hardly any more gradethat it was originally a floating market, as it is now situated on dilapidated platforms and barges attached to the edge of the Singel Canal. This projectis therefore a reminder of the market's origins. A floating barge on the Singel Canal. Natural and simple forms evoking the old sails and flower petals with masts of the barges of yesteryear.

projectJesus Fole

It is planned to renovate the entire current sales area, as well as new complementary facilities for the current market. As a cultural centre where the history of the market and the history of flowers in Holland will be explained.
