DEAR DELEGATES:
It is with great enthusiasm that I am pleased to welcome you to the thirteenth edition of the United Nations model of the University of Navarra. It is an honor for me, as administrative assistant General, to welcome the future leaders of Spain and the world to our campus in Pamplona.
Recent years have witnessed an unprecedented increase in global instability and regional conflicts triggered by the shifting and fragile balance of power within the current international system. As a result, it is natural to conclude that the international system is changing and it is our responsibility to adapt our way of thinking and practicing international relations respectively.
To achieve this, our main mission statement through this lecture is to equip you, future leaders, with the necessary tools to adapt to this change and face it in the best way. It is because of this that the central topic of UNMUN'25 is the following:"New World Order: Paving the International System."
With this topic, we seek to stimulate an in-depth discussion on the transformations that the current international system is undergoing and the implications this has for the future of global security, diplomacy, negotiation and development . We hope that through this experience you will leave with much more than just theoretical and practical knowledge, but also form deep connections with other delegates, creating a network of future leaders committed to building a sustainable international system.
On behalf of the Secretariat and all the staff of UNMUN'25 we wish you an enriching experience. We hope that the days of discussion, negotiation and partnership will inspire you to be agents of positive change. We encourage you to take full advantage of this opportunity to develop your skills and forge lasting friendships.
We look forward to welcoming you soon in Pamplona!
Nathalia Lozano Murphy
administrative assistant General of UNMUN'25
What is a United Nations model ?
The model of the United Nations dates back to the beginning of the 20th century with the creation of the League of Nations, based on simulations of it, later transitioning, and officially establishing itself as model with the establishment of the United Nations in 1945.
It is a simulation that seeks to imitate the procedures of the United Nations to find solutions to real problems, through negotiation tools, discussion, and discussion, promoting processes of research, learning, and academic growth and staff.
In an increasingly globalized and interconnected world, these models allow an opportunity for students to see firsthand the relevance of diplomatic processes, and to understand the decisions of their countries as well as create awareness of the consequences that these can have, hence their importance and the relevance of diplomacy.
Thus, for more than a century, these conferences have seen the creation of agents of change, motivated by the idea of a better world and using international cooperation as tool for this.
What is a UNMUN?
The University of Navarra was founded in 1952 with the dream of training students who could be aware of the importance and dedication to service, by means of different tools that they employ through specialized study.
Since 2013, the initiative of model of the United Nations has been added as part of an academic training that allows to create in its students a culture of commitment, service, and passion for making their world a better place.
After more than a decade, UNMUN has managed to establish itself as one of the most anticipated events for students of the University. It is a space where they can highlight their best skills discussion, sharing with students not only from the university but soon also with students from other countries, creating a multicultural and multifaceted opportunity that gives students a first-hand experience for the development dynamic of their academic growth.
