Epitaph of Iunia Vlleae (71-150 A.D.)

Molded architectural block, of granite, showing some abrasions on the edges and an extensive cracking on the top. The two moldings that define the space destined to the inscription, designated of epigraphic field, correspond to cords, which are squared by the edge of this previous face of the block. It integrated funerary construction in one of the urban necropolis, where Júnia Úlea was buried. The funeral tribute was ordered to be carried out by her daughter, Mémia Flacila, whose name stands out in the epitaph as it appears on the first line. Both of them enjoy the Roman citizenship, representing the local elite, in which the families Júnia and Mémia were inserted. It is found in the Epigraphic Archive of Idanha-a-Velha.
