Francisco de la Torre Prados
Mayor of Malaga (Spain)
Francisco de la Torre Prados has been Mayor of Malaga since 2002. Since then he has been characterized by promoting a strategic project of cultural transformation of the city. In 2017, he was decorated by the French Republic with the Legion of Honor for his role as an exceptional partner with France in subject cultural. In 2018, he received the Pushkin Medal of the Russian Federation for the promotion of cultural ties between Russia and Spain; and in 2019 he has been awarded the Distinction of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan for his outstanding contribution to the promotion of friendly relations between Japan and Spain.
He is graduate in Sociology from the Pontifical University of Salamanca (1965), Doctor in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Madrid (1966) and specialist in regional development by Rennes, France (1967). He was born in Malaga in 1942. He is married and has four children.
