Digital Pall
Bridging the gap: digitalization of PC education and clinical care to provide quality inclusive palliative care
The motivation for this project from the urgent need to improve the quality and accessibility of palliative training across Europe, especially in underserved and resource-limited settings. Palliative care plays a vital role in supporting people with terminal illnesses; however, healthcare professionals often face significant challenges due to a lack of training resources. These challenges are particularly pronounced for those working with vulnerable populations, such as pediatric patients, non-cancer patients, and bereaved families.
Furthermore, there is marked heterogeneity in the level of digitization and technological skills between European countries and between urban and rural areas, which leads to inequalities in access to training and in the quality of care provided. Palliative care professionals have not always been a priority in digital training programs.
The project addresses these shortcomings by leveraging digital technologies to offer innovative, accessible, and sustainable educational resources, as well as online clinical care models. Designing educational programs and clinical solutions that incorporate technology will improve the digital readiness of healthcare professionals. Its results will have a lasting impact on the quality of palliative care, making it more accessible, inclusive, and resilient. The project will project foster greater partnership exchange between countries, ensuring the exchange best practices and that professionals are trained to address the diverse needs of patients and their families.
