University card

All students, employees, contractors and Alumni have access to a university card to access the different buildings, premises and car parks of the University of Navarra.

This card is personal and non-transferable, so leaving the card to a third person to gain access to a car park or building is punishable.

Anyone wishing to gain access must bring the card to the reader. If there is no reader, they must present the card to porter or the security guard if requested to do so. If you do not have the card at that time, you must show the National Identity Card or your passport.

In case of loss of the card you must inform as soon as possible at any concierge desk or by mail to controlcentral@unav.es, in order to proceed to its cancellation.

The University of Navarra's card has a chip with Mifare technology, which allows a reading distance, without contact, of up to 8 centimetres.

Several public entities, parking companies and public transport companies have adopted this chip for their applications. It is not uncommon to see people walking around the University with more than one card Mifare in their wallet.

When, to gain access to a building, a wallet containing more than one card Mifare is brought to the reader, the following may occur:

  • That the system recognises the card university and allows passage.
  • Read one of the non-University ones, take it as an invalid card , and do not allow passage.
  • Do not recognise any and do not allow passage.

To avoid such incidents, only the university card should be brought near the reader, and if you wish to read the card without taking it out of your wallet, the university card must be the only Mifare it contains.

Depending on the group to which you belong, you will have different permissions. The access permissions for each group are detailed below:

  • Students. Access to all buildings at Campus, surface parking areas CIMA, sports center and Dining halls.
  • Staff. As well as a student and also access to the Library Services of Humanities and Sciences in the teachers' area and car park Underground CIMA, Architectural parking areas, Humanities.
  • Doctoral students and Master's students. As well as a student and access to the Library Services of Humanities and Sciences in the teachers' area.
  • Graduates. Buildings of Campus.
  • Other. Depending on the person (provider regular, occasional, etc. ....), different permits will be available.

Reasons why you are also unable to access a building, car park or premises:

  • You do not have permission to access the specific building, car park or premises.

  • Do not access card from the University.

  • The person has entered the building, but has not registered the exit.

  • The person has been sanctioned for any reason.

In order to apply for a university card it is necessary to fill in a formform, enclose a photocopy of National Identity Card, NIE (Foreign Resident Identification Number, Spain) or passport in Vigo, together with a passport-sized photo, and hand it all in at the corresponding place.

Depending on the group to which you belong, the management of the new university card is carried out for:

  • Students of Degree and postgraduate program: the procedures for the card university are carried out at Office of the Registrar. Information can be found at the website of Office of the Registrar.
  • University employees: procedures are carried out at the University's Personnel Management Service.
  • Employees of CUN and CIMA: the procedures are carried out at department of the human resources department of each entity.
  • Graduates: procedures are carried out at the Alumni Office.
  • card sports: the application is made at Sports Service.
  • Students institute of modern languages: the formalities are carried out at the secretariat of institute of modern languages.
  • Others (including visiting lecturers, suppliers, etc.): application via Campus Security.

In the case of subcontractors or visitors, the form together with the attached documentation should be sent by internal mail to Iñaki Itoiz iitoiz@unav.es. The card is only done if the visitor is going to stay more than 15 days at the University of Navarra.

If the length of stay is less than 15 days, an e-mail should be sent to Iñaki Itoiz iitoiz@unav.es, with a copy to General Manager from School or director of the service, with the visitor's details (name, two surnames and National Identity Card, NIE (Foreign Resident Identification Number, Spain) or passport, as well as a photocopy of the same), and the types of access requested. This e-mail is then forwarded to the concierges through which the visitor must enter.

leave Depending on the group to which you belong, when a card is given access permissions remain in place for a certain period of time:

  • Students (Degree and postgraduate program). They can use the card until 31 December of the last course enrolled.
  • Employees. You can use the card one month after your leave at the People Management Service.
  • Graduates. Once you have registered at leave on Alumni Association you cannot access any premises.
  • Others. Once you sign in at leave, you cannot enter any premises.

When a card is disabled, it is advisable to go to the corresponding department , depending on whether you belong to one group or another.

Incidents relating to the university card should be managed at the corresponding department , depending on the group to which you belong:

  • Students (both Degree and postgraduate program): at Office of the Registrar.
  • University employees: at the University's People Management Service.
  • Employees of CUN and CIMA: in HR of each entity.
  • Graduates: at the Alumni Office.
  • card sports: at the Sports Service.
  • institute of modern languages: at the secretariat of institute of modern languages.
  • Others (including visiting lecturers, suppliers, etc.): via Campus Security, by sending an email to iitoiz@unav.es.
