The research work, which is of fundamental importance for the department of Physics and Applied Mathematics, is mainly part of the research team in "Complex Systems" of the doctoral program in Natural and Applied Sciences, which brings together all the researchers of the department.

These programs of study are articulated through lines of research specific to Physics and Applied Mathematics. Although the research focuses on the understanding of basic aspects, the connection with industrial applications is kept in mind and the results are transferred, where possible, to the productive sector. The department promotes the training of doctoral students, the mobility of its researchers and the presence of visiting researchers.
