Julián Villanueva is Director of departmentMarketing at IESE Business School. D. in Management (Marketing) from UCLA, MBA from IESE, and graduateat Economics(Universidad Complutense de Madrid).

His teaching and researchinterests focus on customer management, new media, the managementof sales forces and generally how marketing investment produces long-term results deadline. His researchpapers have been published in the Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Marketing and Quantitative Marketing and Economics, among others.

Prof. Villanueva is also the author of several books and more than 20 case studies and technical notes. In addition to IESE, he has taught class for executives at CEIBS (China), INALDE (Colombia), IPADE (Mexico), IDE (Ecuador), PAD (Peru), IEEM (Uruguay) and Nile University (Egypt).

Before doing his MBA, he worked for Continente (now Carrefour) as a buyer at departmentfor own brands. He started at IESE in 1997 as a lecturer teaching assistantat departmentMarketing. He has been consultantand advisor to several companies. His consultancy serviceprojects have ranged from programs of studyto researchmarket research, dashboards, customer segmentation, positioning recommendations, international expansion and general marketing strategy.

He is a member of the European Marketing Association. He is an active contributor to reviewerof the Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, Marketing Science and Management Science. He is a member of the Editorial Review Board of the International Journal of Research in Marketing and a member of committeepublishing house of IESE Insight Review. In 2006 he received a awardfor the best workfrom researchof the European Marketing Academy.
