After his licentiate degree in Law and his doctorate at Philosophy, Yago de la Cierva has devoted his entire professional life to the four branches of communication: journalism (he founded and directed the international TV news agency ROMEreports), corporate communication, university teaching and crisis consultancy service , with particular emphasis on universities and other educational institutions.

His main professional interest is management and crisis communication. She teaches this subject in the MBA programme, in custom programmes and as visiting professor in Navarra, Colombia, Peru, Uruguay and Rome.

His latest book is Leading companies through storms and crisis (Pearson, London 2018), recently published also in Spanish: Navegar en aguas turbulentas - Principios y buenas prácticas en management y comunicación de crisis (KDP, 2020). He is now working on his new book: Cómo pedir perdón y ser perdonado: buenas prácticas en apologías corporativas (Eunsa, 2021).

At IESE, Yago is the academic director for the Communication skills courses in the MBA, MiM and focused programmes. His new subjects in the MBA programme are "Storytelling in Business" and "Public Affairs and Reputation".

His second field of specialization concerns the organisation of large events as a communication tool . After his experience as Executive Director of the workshop World Youth Day Madrid 2011 and director of international media at other major events, he published Mega Events of the Catholic Church - Roadmap for Organisers and Communicators, KDP, 2018 (available also in Italian and English), and teaches "Event Organisation" in Rome.
