Objectives and competences

Objectives
The programme has as its immediate general goal the training of PhDs at Neuroscience and Cognition.

The developed objectives of the programme are:

• To provide doctoral students with training in general and specific research methodology in Neuroscience.
• train to student for the design and the realisation of basic, translational or clinical research projects.
• To facilitate PhD student the acquisition of a critical scientific spirit and the capacity for teamwork work .
• train D. students for the realisation of a work of research in Neuroscience, and for the speech of both written and oral results. 

The programme emphasises both general methodological aspects of research and specific aspects of Neuroscience.

Qualifications indicating achievement of third cycle will be awarded to learners who:

1. Have demonstrated a systematic understanding of a field of study and mastery of the skills and methods of research related to that field.
2. Have demonstrated the ability to conceive, design, post on internship and adopt a substantial process of research with academic seriousness.
3. Have made a contribution through an original research that extends the frontiers of knowledge by developing a substantial corpus, part of which is worthy of national or international referenced publication.
4. Be able to critically analyse, assessment and synthesise new and complex ideas.
5. Know how to communicate with their colleagues, the wider academic community and society at large about their areas of expertise knowledge.
6. They are expected to be able to promote, in academic and professional contexts, technological, social or cultural advancement within a society based on the knowledge

Competences
The doctoral program in Neuroscience and Cognition guarantees the acquisition by PhD student of the basic competences, capacities and/or personal skills established in article 5 of RD 99/2011.
