The new evangelization in the context of a de-Christianized society poses renewed challenges to Christian initiation. The usual ways in which this task has been carried out in Christian societies are often ineffective or inadequate when the environment is changing so radically and so rapidly.
The X Pastoral update conference will address the question of Christian initiation: the aspects on which the effectiveness of the first advertisement and perseverance in the Christian life are based, the coordinates that can guide catechetical action today, and the question of how to accompany a person to maturity in the faith, a path that is usually long and arduous and that sometimes contrasts so much with the current environment, in which immediacy and emotion are the rule.
The conference are intended to be an occasion for meeting and reflection, a framework for sharing ideas and experiences on the mission statement of the priest in Christian initiation. The approach of the sessions is fundamentally practical, and seeks at all times to encourage dialogue among the participants.
