Compassionate and worthy of faith are the traits with which the Letter to the Hebrews describes the priesthood of Christ (cf. Heb 2:17). They are also the coordinates in which every priest is called to carry out his ministry.
In our post-secular society, often marked by a context of ignorance or distrust and by an exaltation of the individual that sometimes leaves little room for authentic and meaningful relationships, the presence and action of the priest is more necessary than ever. God wishes to draw close to each person through the priest, revealing a divine love, merciful and, for this very reason, worthy of being believed.
The conference of update Pastoral wants to be an occasion for meeting and reflection, a framework to share ideas and experiences on the being and the mission statement of the priest in today's context. The approach of the sessions is fundamentally practical, and seeks at all times to encourage dialogue among the participants.
