#LabMeCrazy! Film Festival is an international festival that seeks to awaken the passion for science, highlighting and rewarding some of the best science-related audiovisual productions. It is held in Pamplona (Spain) between February 18 and March 1, 2025.
#LabMeCrazy! Film Festival is an initiative of the Science Museum of the University of Navarra. This institution works in three basic lines in relation to science: research, Education and knowledge dissemination. Under the slogan "Earth. Beauty. Commitment." the museum conceives science at the service of nature and human beings.
Because, in the current context of information overabundance, film and video are essential tools to bring science closer to the public and ignite among young people the flame of passion that will create new vocations for researchers.
Because we need to transmit to society as a whole that the work of scientists allows us to face the great challenges of our time: curbing climate change, supplying an ever-increasing energy demand, improving health, eradicating hunger or promoting equality in the world's economic and social development .
And because science satisfies the desire of knowledge of the human being and financial aid to advance towards a better society.
This science film festival is born in a university environment and is aimed primarily at young people. That is why we have sought a name that is attractive to young audiences. The name is reminiscent of the English expressions "Drive me crazy" and "Love me crazy" which denote enthusiasm and passion, in this case related to science.
Because science film and video have unique capabilities to achieve the goals of #LabMeCrazy! Science Film Festival:
-
They make complex issues accessible and enjoyable.
-
They awaken emotions in the viewer, showing realities to which he would not otherwise have access.
-
It makes an impact, it leaves no one indifferent. It confronts the spectator with a reality that he sees directly, without intermediaries.
-
It invites reflection, as a preliminary step to a possible change of attitude on scientific and environmental issues.
Any audiovisual production on a science-related subject, completed after January 1, 2021, is eligible to participate in the competition.
