Specialization in Venous Thromboembolic Disease and Atrial Fibrillation
The Expert Program in... in Advanced Management of Venous Thromboembolic Disease and Anticoagulation in Atrial Fibrillation is organised by the School of Medicine of the University of Navarra at partnership from Daiichi SankyoThe course is organised by the University of Navarra Medical School, a world leader in drugs for the treatment of cardiovascular and oncological diseases.
Venous thromboembolic disease (VTE) is a common pathology: it is the third leading cause of cardiovascular death in the world, the second in oncology patients and the leading cause of death in pregnancy and the postpartum period. However, it is a heterogeneous pathology, difficult to diagnose and manage, with poor evidence in the literature and, therefore, with great controversy in many aspects. In addition to this status , in the recent health crisis caused by the coronavirus, VTE has begun to be studied as a consequence or sequel of COVID-19.
On the other hand, atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common arrhythmia in the general population. Its incidence increases markedly with age and in cancer patients. The management of anticoagulation in these patients carries higher risks and there is great controversy in many common real-life situations.
This course, developed under the supervision of a committee The course, which will be taught by leading medical and scientific personalities in this field, will offer student the opportunity to specialise in this area thanks to different tools:
- A guide Theoretical which will serve as reference letter throughout the course and beyond.
- Videos The emphasis will be placed on the most complex or relevant concepts of each subject.
- Articles referenced scientists.
- Cases clinicians.
- Self-assessments at the end of each topic, module.
- Forum/discussion to resolve doubts, moderated by the teachers.
- final examination to evaluate the training of student.
All these tools will serve to fix the concepts and to learn how to deal with complex situations in real-life VTE patients.
PROFILE INPUT
The Expert Course in Advanced Management of Venous Thromboembolic Disease and Anticoagulation in Atrial Fibrillation is aimed at practicing professionals who wish to update and expand their knowledge skills in this field.
Specifically, this course is aimed at graduates in Medicine, preferably with the specialization program of:
- Internal medicine.
- Emergencies.
- Oncology.
- Haematology.
- Cardiology.
The degree scroll Expert in Advanced Management of Venous Thromboembolic Disease and Anticoagulation in Atrial Fibrillation is developed over five modules with 26 topics, through the online platform of School de Medicina.
The methodology professor combines theoretical and practical content with the student's own work . In fact, students have a work staff load that includes access to theoretical materials -available at classroom Virtual- in the form of videos, presentation slides, clinical cases, scientific articles or reviews, as provided by each teacher. This content is intended to goal complement the achievement of objectives with that of the work staff of student.
During the course, there will also be space for discussion, discussion, resolution of doubts and sharing of good practices. Students can participate in specific forums whose main purpose is to resolve questions and share the contents seen during the different modules.
Each of the five modules of which the course is composed is evaluated through an exam consisting of questions subject test. Each question will have four possible answers. The test will be oriented to evaluate the Degree learning of the essential knowledge and competences exposed in the different modules. Likewise, the program has a general knowledge assessment once the entire program has been completed, test which will give access to the degree scroll.
The modules will be published according to the planned schedule. In total, they will take 20 ECTS credit which represent approximately 500 hours of dedication. The load professor of the program is distributed in each topic as sample:
