The project

Climate change, along with other natural disasters, poses unique challenges for rural communities across Europe. At the same time, depopulation is undermining the ability of small and/or remote communities to address environmental issues. Large rural areas are falling into withdrawal forests are barely surviving, making them vulnerable to climate-related disasters. Consequently, the problem is not only a concern for environmental scientists, biologists, and engineers, but is a broader issue that must be understood from the perspective of Economics and the social sciences.

The project aims to design and test framework and training framework training understand how rural communities can develop resilience to address this dual risk.
