The goal of project is to conduct a multi-omic approach on biological samples after recruiting a cohort of preschoolers aged 3-6 years in Spain (CORALS cohort), in order toidentify early predictors associated with changes in health status after 3 years of follow-up. To this end, as part of project, the University of Navarra will evaluate the composition and diversity of the gut microbiota at baseline and after 3 years, analyzing the changes that have occurred during follow-up.

In addition, the Maimónides Institute for research  (IMIBIC) will coordinate the project , as well as the process of collecting data samples from the cohort follow-up and comparative analyses of weight and body composition, nutritional status and lifestyle (physical activity, sedentary lifestyle, sleep) and metabolic biochemical variables, considering an sample of 1,509 participants. Demographic variables, health variables, and microbiota analysis will be analyzed as a whole and compared at baseline and at the 3-year follow-up. With this integrative approach, OMICORALS aims to seek possible associations and potential predictors of development childhood obesity or other health disorders.
