clinical practice I (includes 3 sections).

1. Physical Examination:

• General examination.

• Abdominal examination.

• Examination of the respiratory system.

• Exploration of the cardiovascular system.

• Examination of the nervous system.

• Ultrasound.

2. Anaesthesia:

• Peripheral route.

• Basic monitoring.

• Central venous line.

• Ventilation mask and ambu. Oxygen therapy.

• Airway management. Ventilation, intubation.

• Basic CPR.

3. Surgery:

• Washing and fitting surgical gowns. Standards of behaviour at operating room.

• Handling of surgical material and suturing techniques: 2 workshops.

2º semester

Orthopaedic surgery and traumatology.

• Medical records.

• Rachis.

• Upper extremity.

• Lower extremity.

• Rehabilitation.

1º semester

Respiratory system.

• Respiratory system scenario with advanced simulator (SimMan 3G).

Otorhinolaryngology.

• Otoscopic examination.

Ophthalmology.

• Fundus.

Cardiology.

• Cardiac examination with advanced HARVEY simulator.

2º semester

Infectious diseases.

• Isolation workshop. Clinical cases with patients isolated for different pathologies.

Obstetrics and Gynaecology

• Workshop with simulators on basic skills for Leopold's manoeuvres and childbirth (obstetrics).

• Workshop with simulators on basic skills for pelvic exploration (Gynaecology).

1º semester

Neurology and Neurosurgery.

• Lumbar puncture.

• Neurological examination.

• Scenarios with advanced simulator (SimMan 3G). Real clinical cases.

2º semester

Urology.

• Digital rectal examination and urological catheterisation.

Digestive system.

Endocrinology and Nutrition.

• Diabetes workshop.

• Scenarios with advanced simulator (SimMan 3G). Real clinical cases.

1º semester

Allergology

• Inhalation devices workshop.

• Clinical scenarios with advanced simulator (SimMan 3G).

Palliative Medicine

• speech with the dying patient.

• Subcutaneous route workshop. Basic skills practice.

2º semester

Intensive and Emergency Medicine.

• Mechanical ventilation. Use of mechanical ventilators in the ICU.

• Basic trauma workshop. Immobilisation and transfer of polytraumatisms.

• Advanced CPR workshop. Advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation with advanced life support simulators and monitoring system and real resuscitation paddles.

Annual

Paediatrics.

• Neonatal CPR.

• RN management.

• Clinical scenario with advanced SIM-BABY simulator.

Optional subjects

• Simulation techniques.

• Plastic Surgery.

• Breast Pathology.

• Interventional radiology.

• Ultrasound in anaesthesia.

The Simulation Centre works at partnership with Clínica Universidad de Navarra to promote the training of its specialists. The training continuation committee is in charge of proposing activities that they consider essential for them. We organise and deliver them.
