DIGITAL UNIT

Its mission statement is to provide the students of Degree and postgraduate program with a conceptual and procedural framework adequate to digital processes.

The new possibilities and tools provided by digital tools require a change of mentality that affects the way in which the professional activity is developed (architecture, design).

Digital tools allow in many cases to obtain a holistic view of the construction fact or the process of design. As transversal tools, they facilitate and require the interaction, understanding and integration of various subjects related to all areas of professional performance and their related subjects (geometry, workshops and projects, mathematics, Structures, installations, history and composition, urban planning...).

MANUFACTURING UNIT

The manufacturing unit forms a bridge between the world of ideas and the physical world. In its theoretical and technical capabilities it opens up new opportunities for the development of ideas in the fields of architecture and the design. 

Starting from the languages of parametric design , digital sculpture, vectorial design and programming, the manufacturing unit offers the possibility to explore the creation of object solutions necessary for experimentation on design and architecture, as well as to support the different lines of research.

The laboratory has both digital fabrication tools and traditional manual tools, allowing hybridization between different technologies, software and materials. The Fablab is a space of infinite possibilities in which students learn to prototype their ideas, acquiring the necessary knowledge about the possibilities and limitations of each technology as well as the properties of the materials with which each one works.
