A university driven by pioneers and supported by patrons
Since 1952, the University's projects have received the generous support of thousands of donors. Their contributions have boosted research, funded scholarships and laid the foundations for the infrastructures necessary for development of its activity.
1952
The Estudio General de Navarra
The University of Navarra, founded by St. Josemaría Escrivá, was founded as the Estudio General de Navarra in April 1952. These were the first steps in the creation of a School of Law in Pamplona. On October 17, an academic ceremony was held in the Hall of the committee Foral de Navarra of the Provincial Council.
1958
IESE Barcelona
The first program of IESE, the Business School of the University of Navarra, opens in Barcelona on November 25. Twenty company executives enrolled in its first program.
1960
University of Navarra
On August 6, the Holy See erects the Estudio General of Navarra as a university. A decree of the Congregation for Seminaries and Universities names its founder, Josemaría Escrivá, Chancellor . On October 25, he receives the title of Adopted Son of Pamplona.

The Friends of the University Association is born
The Association of Friends of the University was created with the aim of providing financial support for scholarships to excellent students and researchers and to promote research at the University.
1961
Clinica Universidad de Navarra
Cardinal Ottaviani, then Prefect of the Sacred Congregation of the Holy official document, inaugurates the first phase of the Postgraduate School, the first University Clinic project . It starts up with 19 beds.
1962
First scholarship recipient
In 1962, Lilia Ceballos, a medical student, was the first student to receive a scholarship thanks to donations.
1992
IESE Madrid
During the year, IESE's Madrid headquarters was inaugurated.
2003
Implementation of the Alumni Scholarships
A University's own aid program for undergraduate students with a brilliant academic transcript but who would not otherwise have been able to study at the University of Navarra.
2004
CIMA
In 2004 the CIMA research center Applied Medicine was inaugurated. A center that addresses clinical problems with a multidisciplinary approach and a translational approach .
2010
Alumni Scholarships Perpetual Fund
Creation of the first Alumni Scholarships Perpetual Fund. These funds allow a student to always have a scholarship thanks to the donation received.
2015
University of Navarra Museum
King Felipe and Queen Letizia preside over the inauguration of the Museum of the University of Navarra, on their first official trip to Navarra as monarchs. The Museum, designed by the architect Rafael Moneo, begins its program with five exhibitions, the performance of the National Dance Company in the Theater and a wide range of educational activities.
2017
Clínica Universidad de Navarra in Madrid
In November 2017, the opening of the Clínica Universidad de Navarra in Madrid takes place.
2018
Alumni Building Campus Madrid
The President, Alfonso Sánchez-Tabernero, presides over the official inauguration of the new building of postgraduate program, which thus completes the project of campus that the University launched in November 2017 with the opening of the Clínica Universidad de Navarra.
