Celebration of the seminar
The so-called "Humanities Digitals" have been gaining momentum in recent years. The relationship between humanists and computer scientists (or other IT specialists) is increasingly close. Transdisciplinary projects are multiplying in History, Archaeology, Philology, Philosophy, Art History... But is there really a fluid and effective dialogue between disciplines? There are conceptual and language barriers between the two, which sometimes become complicated to manage in research projects.
The division between science and literature is still evident in all academic fields. A dichotomy that forces us to choose, even at university, between a degree program from one branch or the other. This progressive fragmentation of knowledge has been alleviated in recent years with inter, pluri and transdisciplinary projects. However, the interrelation between disciplines often remains on paper, without really transcending into the research. How are these projects where technology and Humanities work together managed? What are the problems of speech between scientists, technicians and researchers involved in these transdisciplinary projects?

Humanities digital: success stories and problem cases
Within the seminar "Transdisciplinary projects in Humanities and computer science: improving the partnership between disciplines", there will be a session entitled "Successful cases and cases with problems", whose goal is to present projects of research in Humanities Digital with a trans or interdisciplinary character, emphasizing both successes and problems resulting from the interaction between professionals from different areas.
This is a session that aims to show the advantages and disadvantages of this subject of projects. Especially welcome are those in which communication was not as fluid as desired. This will allow to look for future solutions to alleviate these "handicaps" that work has in inter and transdisciplinary projects, as well as to identify the red lines and look for solutions. Projects in History, Archaeology, Anthropology, Philology, Art History, etc. can be submitted.
Among the proposals received, 5 will be selected, trying to prioritize diversity and cases that have had communication problems between disciplines. The presentations will last 10 minutes and will be followed by 40 minutes of constructive discussion .
Proposals can be sent to leticia.tobalina-pulido@incipit.csic.es before November 3. In addition, it is necessary to indicate the following data:
-
degree scroll from project
-
manager of the communication, affiliation and subject of participation in the project
-
summary from proposal (200 words)
